Below are some ways that Vision
Aid Overseas could use money that you fundraise to help the world to
see:
£3 could pay for an eye test and a pair of spectacles for a child in Ethiopia
Ethiopia has a population of over 75 million people and between 2006 and 2007 Vision Aid Overseas volunteers examined the eyes of over 4,500 patients here. We are only scratching the surface of massive problem. Please help us increase the number of patients we can examine by making a donation.
£10 could pay for five pair of spectacles to be glazed in Sierra Leone
Once a patient has been examined, it is ideal if spectacles can be made to their exact requirements. This means optical workshops are needed which are staffed by trained, local personnel who have stocks of all the necessary lenses and frames as well as the required machinery. Such workshops are rare in the developing world, but Vision Aid Overseas has established a number, including one in Sierra Leone, but we needs to raise more funds in order to establish many more.
£21 could pay for an hours training of an optical worker in Zambia
Our target countries, such as Zambia, suffer from a severe lack of optical facilities and skills. Vision Aid Overseas is helping to overcome these problems by providing sustainable eyecare in the form of training. Optical training aims to provide doctors and other health workers the skills they need to examine eyes and dispense spectacles. It is hoped that ultimately our target countries will become self sufficient as regards eyecare.
£130 could pay for an entire days sight testing in Ghana
Ghana is one of the poorest countries in the world. Between 2006 and 2007 Vision Aid Overseas volunteers examined the eyes of over 8,300 patients in Ghana. We need your help to do even more between 2007 and 2008. Please consider making a donation.
£7500 could pay for an entire two week project in Uganda. Vision Aid Overseas could reach over 1500 patients
Vision Aid Overseas exists to serve its patients. We are working for a world in which everyone has access to spectacles. There are millions of people in the developing world who simply need spectacles to lead a normal life. We are determined to expand our work and make an even greater impact. Please help us to do this by making a donation today. |
